Anchorage, Alaska
An epic weekend, as we flew into Anchorage for the Fur Rondy Festival and hope to see up close the memorial start of the 2022 Iditarod start. Our guide, Wayde Carroll was a tremendous help getting to the right spot to see the race and photograph it. This was the 50th Anniversary of the Iditarod and we were blessed to be there. It snowed that day which was the icing on the cake for this once in a lifetime event for us. Words can’t capture this Super Bowl of Alaska’s excitement, The memorial start is packed with 4 inches of snow to get them out of the city but the heavy snowfall was even more helpful for the racers. The next day the teams head to Willow for the official start which is just north of Wasilla, Alaska.
